Students pose challenging questions to Government Minister

The questioning skills of two students have been likened to Nick Robinson’s, following an interview with Rishi Sunak, Government Minister and MP for Richmondshire.  The two Georges, George Harris and George Whyatt, Year 11 and Year 10 students at Richmond School and Sixth Form College, were delighted when Mr Sunak accepted their invitation to take part in their Podcast.

A young rugby player has been rewarded for his talent and skill on the field. Elijah Delaidriti, a Year 8 student at Richmond School and Sixth Form College, has been awarded the North East Rugby League U12 Player of the Year.

It is that time of year again and we are now focusing all our attentions onto Dark Skies 2020 which are planned for the 14th February to the 1st March 2020. As you are aware we host the Dark Skies Festival each year with our colleagues in various National Parks around the country and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and as you will be aware each year we like to have a different theme and this year we have decided that we should be focusing on selling the benefits of our dark skies – in particular the benefits of “darkness” to humans.

Young golfer swings to success

A thirteen-year old is student is rapidly rising through the golfing ranks after winning the Garry ‘Mac’ Memorial Golf Day. Harvey Olney, a Year 9 student at Richmond School and Sixth Form College, was crowned the champion, having competed against forty two adults and one other junior player.

World-leading forensics expert goes back to school

One of the world’s leading forensics experts inspired over 600 students when she went back to Richmond School to talk about her career and achievements. Alumna Professor Sarah Hainsworth OBE FREng was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for her services to Engineering and Forensic Science in the 2019 New Year Honours List.

Students make Year 6 open evening a night to remember!

Over 700 guests were treated to informative, interactive and even hair-raising experiences at Richmond School and Sixth Form College’s Year 6 open evening.  It was standing room only for the warm welcome from Lily Richardson and Henry Wright, who themselves have only been at the school as new Year 7 students since the beginning of September. Behind the scenes, over the last year, Lily and Henry, together with Sixth Form students Joel Nesbit, Subin Pariyar and Ollie Lubanski, have been involved in a special project to create an engaging and lively film that presented a Year in the life of a Year 6
