Students put their thinking caps on in STEM workshop

A group of Richmond School students worked with local businesses to learn about future study opportunities and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.  The group of Year 9 and 10 girls participated in the STEM for Girls Workshop, in collaboration with North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership (NYBEP). These workshops are part of NYBEP’s Women into STEM Initiative which aim to develop skill and inspire talent for tomorrow’s workforce.

Top linguist captivates A-level English students

A group of A-Level English Language students from Richmond Sixth Form College were privileged to learn from one of the world’s leading linguists.  The 15 Year 12 students were given the opportunity to hear Professor David Crystal at a lecture in Reeth during the acclaimed Swaledale Festival.

Professor Crystal is a highly regarded linguist with over 100 books to his name and in his talk he spoke about British accents, their past, present and future.

Six Richmond Sixth Form College students are jumping for joy after achieving unconditional university offers to study dance from September.  The students all study dance at A-level and have chosen to continue their studies in this field, to develop both artistically and technically in a range of dance genres.

Yorkshire in Bloom is a voluntary regional organisation that administers the RHS Britiain in Bloom Campaign in Yorkshire. Year 10 students, Ben Dale, Harris Mcfarlane, Matty Callender, Max Booth and Sam Connolly are delighted and honoured to have secured positions in the North Yorkshire squad. They are looking forward to the series of matches which will culminate in the Northern Counties Tournament at Middlesbrough Football Club.

Three intrepid cyclists, who raised £4,800 for the Butterwick Hospice, have been recognised as inspirational young people of the Year with a prestigious award from Youth Focus: North East.
