Aspiring opera singer, Sophie Montgomery, has made her debut with Scottish Opera Young Company and is already looking forward to performing with them next year. Sophie, a Year 13 student at Richmond Sixth Form College, was part of the company’s challenging, dramatic and powerful production of Gluck’s Orfeo & Euridice.

Students put their thinking caps on in STEM workshop

A group of Richmond School students worked with local businesses to learn about future study opportunities and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.  The group of Year 9 and 10 girls participated in the STEM for Girls Workshop, in collaboration with North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership (NYBEP). These workshops are part of NYBEP’s Women into STEM Initiative which aim to develop skill and inspire talent for tomorrow’s workforce.

Top linguist captivates A-level English students

A group of A-Level English Language students from Richmond Sixth Form College were privileged to learn from one of the world’s leading linguists.  The 15 Year 12 students were given the opportunity to hear Professor David Crystal at a lecture in Reeth during the acclaimed Swaledale Festival.

Professor Crystal is a highly regarded linguist with over 100 books to his name and in his talk he spoke about British accents, their past, present and future.

Eight Year 12 students from Richmond Sixth Form College have graduated from The Brilliant Club, following a four-month study programme specifically targeted to increase the number of pupils from state schools accessing top universities.
