A group of talented cheerleaders are preparing for a performance of a lifetime.  The seven students, from Richmond School and Sixth Form College, are heading to Atlanta as part of a team of twenty members of the Catterick-based Lazer Cheer Academy team where they will take part in the highly-regarded international Cheer Sport competition.

It’s a great start to the New Year for a group of Year 12 students who are celebrating the success of their business initiative.  The students are taking part in the national Young Enterprise competition and have created a beautiful calendar, which is selling like hot cakes. The team quickly covered their costs on the first day of trading and have moved into profit.

Creative students spread festive cheer across Richmond

The creative talents of students from Richmond School and Sixth Form College have brought joy to the Richmond community this Christmas. Many of the school’s musical ensembles have been entertaining at events in the town during the Christmas period and beautiful festive-themed artwork adorns the Town Hall, Library and St Mary’s Church and is being greatly admired by residents and visitors alike.

Foodbank boosted by young volunteer’s work

A Foodbank, that helps those in financial crisis feed themselves and their families, has been given a boost thanks to the work of a young volunteer.  Evie, a Year 9 student at Richmond School and Sixth Form College, has been a dedicated volunteer at the Hambleton Foodshare for two years, where she serves customers at the weekly ‘Soup and Roll’ fundraising events during the school holidays.  In the run-up to Christmas, which can be a very difficult, stressful and expensive time for families who are struggling to make ends meet, Evie wanted to do something extra and put together her own appeal at school.

England call-up for skiing duo

A duo of young skiers have been called up to the English Schools’ ski team.  Emily Riley and Isobel Brooks, Year 11 and Year 10 students at Richmond School and Sixth Form College, have been selected from ski racers across the country for the 2020 English Schools’ Senior Squad.

Road safety a top priority for driving-age students

Road safety remains a top priority for students after experts delivered a range of topics to develop safer driving awareness. The Year 13 students, from Richmond Sixth Form College, took part in an initiative supported by the North Yorkshire Police Traffic Bureau, the Institute of Advanced Motorists and local racing driver and alumnus Max Coates.
